The Girl with the Sad Eyes

10.jpg

Everyone keep saying she’s the girl with the sad eyes

They want to make her better

They want her to act right

It’s always their timing

She’s running against the clock

She’s nothing more than the girl

The girl with the sad eyes

They try to analyze her

But the truth is too cruel

They want to find out

But they won’t ask, won’t move

They look at her

They know she can’t be more than a girl

The girl with the sad eyes

Every word might mean something

They say they want to understand

But they can’t replace the warming hands

Of the one who got away

The one that make her the girl

The girl with the sad eyes

They all feel bad for her

But she has had many of them

Replacements of real affection

They can’t empty the bin

They can’t change the past

They need to accept she’s just a girl

The girl with the sad eyes

Why do they want to take away her pain?

Is it just to feel better about themselves?

Maybe they are also little boys and girls

Children with sad eyes

The blush won’t make them warmer

The boots won’t make them strong

But they won’t take off their own masks

Just to fix the girl

The girl with their same eyes
